QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires command of the
English language. Also required is knowledge of pertinent
academic areas and learning situations; general needs and
behaviors of students and student recreational activities
involving sports, games, arts, and crafts.
Must possess the ability to understand the needs of high school
students and to effectively relate to these needs in a learning
or recreational situation; learn the requirements of students in
specific learning programs to which assigned; analyze situations
accurately and adopt an effective course of action; supervise
students in a variety of situations; establish and maintain
accurate classroom records and files; operate standard office
equipment including computer keyboarding, copy machine, tape
recorder, projector; maintain calm and patience in stressful
situations; understand and carry out oral and written
instructions; establish and maintain cooperative work
relationships with those contacted in the performance of required
duties.
Clerical experience
and work involving the supervision of students is desirable.
Completion of the twelfth grade is
required, preferably supplemented by college level
courses.
CERTIFICATION OF
DISTRICT PROFICIENCY IN THE AREAS OF BASIC READING, WRITING AND
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE
CONSIDERED.

IN PLACE OF THE DISTRICT PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE.

DUTIES OF POSITION:
Under supervision, assist a certificated teacher in the
instruction, supervision, and training of an individual or group
of students by providing a variety of instructional support,
student care activities and related duties in the maintenance of
an effective learning environment. This job class provides a
variety of responsible instructional support activities to
enhance the educational environment within the District and
requires a high degree of positive contact with both student and
certificated staff.
