POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Tutors

POSITION LOCATION: Multiple Locations Available
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Teaching Experience preferred
Ability to speak a least one language other than English. All languages, specifically Japanese, Hebrew, Mandingo, Dutch, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Turkish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work under direct supervision of an ESL, content area, or grade level teacher in a
classroom.
Provide transition to ESL students using English and/or the student’s native language.
Help beginning ESL students acquire Basic English, academic, and cultural skills.
Help students with grade level and content are assignments and concepts.
Support the classroom/content area teacher with specific information that will facilitate
the academic and cultural progress of the student.
Communicate with families when asked to do so to help facilitate classroom learning.
Translate at meetings and conferences when asked to do so by your building supervisor.
Communicate with your supervising teacher on a regular basis.
Keep accurate records
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
REASONING ABILITY:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and parents.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Work with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups.
Work with a minimum amount of supervision.
Perform under varying amounts of pressure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
