Substitute Teacher

Substitute Teachers at New Trier High School:

• Must hold a valid  Illinois State Board of Education Type 03, 09, 10, or 31 teaching certificate.  Information available at www.isbe.net. We are not accepting applicants with a Type 39 Substitute certificate.
• Help provide a quality education by following the lesson plans provided, maintaining classroom control and demonstrating positive attitude toward students.
• Shall adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the “New Trier Substitute Teacher Handbook" found at http://www.newtrier.k12.il.us/media/files/content/New_Trier_Web_Site/Administration/Communications/Publications/subhandbook.pdf.
• Provide an environment conducive to a positive learning experience.

Hiring Process:
Applicants will be screened and called for an interview before being hired. Employment is dependent on completing all pre-employment paperwork and satisfactory criminal background check.

As an employee at will, any offer of employment that New Trier extends, or any employment that occurs if one is hired, is for an indefinite period and may be terminated at any time by New Trier or the individual, with or without cause, and without prior notice or warning. Accordingly, Substitute Teachers may be removed from the substitute list at the discretion of New Trier.
