Description: 

Perform duties for the school which may include: speaking and reading English and Spanish; run office machines and answer telephone/inquiries for non/limited English speaking families; interpret for parent meetings, conferences, or other activities for non/limited English speaking families; support parent involvement and community outreach activities through oral contacts in English/Spanish; support/assist site staff, classroom teachers, and school programs as needed; provide assistance to non/limited English speaking students under the direction of the classroom teacher. Employee may be designated to assist identified pupils in the provision of specialized physical health care services and/or assist identified pupils with personal requirements including eating and bathroom needs. The employee may perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: 

High school education or equivalent. Demonstrate ability to fluently speak, read, and write English and Spanish by passing a district screening test or equivalent; knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to interact with the public tactfully and courteously. Must score satisfactory on the district screening assessment for oral interpreters.  Must meet No Child Left Behind requirements in one of the following ways:

1. Possess an AA college degree or higher

2. Successful completion of at least 48 college semester units

3. Pass the District’s screening test (CODESP) with a minimum score of 70%

Salary and Terms of Service:

Salary range $10.29 - $13.72 per hour, eight (8) steps, three (3) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Holiday, sick leave, and vacation benefits.

Selection Procedure: 

All applications will be screened and interviews scheduled for qualified applicants. If after interviews suitable applicants are not found, the search will continue. As required by California State Law should you be employed by the District, your fingerprints will be taken and submitted to the Justice Department and the FBI for a background check. Processing fee will be at applicant's expense.
