TITLE: High School Teacher- WELLNESS/FITNESS

Experience

At least one year of teaching experience (preferred)

Experience working with children who have been educationally underserved

Able to demonstrate, through video taped or mock lesson, academic progress of students under his/her leadership and must be able to articulate the methods used to achieve those results.
Education

Bachelor's degree in content area or education.

Masters degree in education (preferred).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Student Achievement
- Promote high academic standards for all students
- Utilize national and state standards to develop excellent curriculum and create assessments that challenge students and measure student mastery
- Successfully differentiate effective standards-based curriculum in order to best meet each individual student's needs and abilities
-Collaborate with grade-level and department members to identify standards-based curriculum
- Use student performance data, collected via UNO's data management system and student work, to refine, update, and tailor curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Document clear, measurable, attainable, and rigorous performance goals for individual students, as well a the class as a whole, to evaluate effectiveness of teaching strategies and learning patterns
2. Professional Performance
- Set professional goals and document them on a Individualized Professional Learning Plan
- Meet regularly with administration team members to discuss teaching and learning progress
- Engage in focused, reflective work (action research, critical friends, case study, or learning log)
- Communicate with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and larger academic community to improve academic outcomes for all students
- Exhibit personal responsibility for daily work and attendance; personal appearance (Blazer), student learning; and school success
- Demonstrate collegial behavior, make professional development contributions, and use reflective practices
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and promote the same level of professionalism from other staff members
3. Operations and Compliance
- Implement all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct
- Administer standardized tests
- Initiate the requisition of appropriate curricular materials
- Assist in the management of school records and reports; submit necessary student achievement and behavior information for progress reports and report cards promptly and as scheduled
- Remain current with changes made to the Illinois State Board of Education Learning Standards and Goals
4. School Environment
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
- Develop positive relationships with students
- Develop classroom rules for behavior that are consistent with the school wide rules and UNO Student Code of Conduct
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment
- Establish and maintain cooperative and collegial relations with teachers and staff
- Support the health, safety, and welfare of students and the school
5. Parent and Community Relations
- Develop positive relationships with parents for the purpose of creating a support for students and their education program
- Assist in promoting the participation of students, parents and other members of the staff in UNO initiated activities
- Promote community participation in the UNO High School life through volunteering, fundraising, advisory committees, etc.
