Substitute Teacher
Job Qualifications:
To qualify to substitute teach at Black River Public School, you must:
*Hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate, which has not expired; OR
*Hold a valid, non-rescinded, current year Michigan substitute teaching permit

Administration of Teacher Absences and Sub Assignments:
After completion of all pre-employment requirements and acceptance into Black River's pool of available subs, successful candidates will receive a Welcome Letter via email that will provide an ID number (your telephone number to be called when assignments are available) and a PIN for an AESOP account with Black River. Black River uses AESOP (Automated Educational Substitute OPerator) to utilize the telephone and Internet to help subs find and accept available assignments. We will provide the first-day-of-work paperwork with the Welcome Letter, including payroll withholding and direct deposit forms (which you may return ahead of time or bring on your first day of work) and the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form (which you may fill out in advance but is to be signed in the school office on your first day of work).
Salary:
$110 for a full day. For partial days, $25 per 90-minute block and/or $10 for the 20-minute seminar period.
School Description:
Black River Public School is an independent, non-profit college-preparatory charter school serving grades K-12. Chartered in 1996 by Grand Valley State University, the school features a multi-age Montessori-based elementary program, an integrated middle school liberal arts curriculum, and a rigorous high school program capped by 18 Advanced Placement courses. The school has grown from 200 to 800 students. Because of its unique curriculum, Black River is permitted to begin the school year 2 weeks before Labor Day.
