SPECIFICATIONS:
The normal work year for this position is ten (10)
months. The individual employed for this
position, effective as soon as possible, will work under the
supervision of the Principal and / or Principal Designee
Principal to teach Elementary Special Education Class.
Teachers work directly with students in providing instructional
programs that meet the students' individual aspirations,
capabilities, interests, and needs. Teaches work with
other teachers, staff and administrators in achieving the
district goals, department goals, objectives and philosophy.
They also develop and maintain effective communication with
parents. The teachers report to the building principal
through the department/division chairperson. In
accordance with school policies as established by the Board Of
Education, the teachers are responsible for supervision of
students and for development and implementation of
instructional programs for which they are certified.
Teachers are responsible for providing information to the
administration for the revision and development of new policies
regarding the educational programs.
KEY FUNCTIONS:

Planning and Preparation - Must be able to
demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and
resources. Design coherent instruction and select
appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to
assess students learning.

Classroom Environment - Creates an
environment of respect and report, establishes a culture for
learning, manages classroom procedures, manages students
behavior, and the ability to organize physical space.
·
Instruction - Communicates clearly and
accurately, use questioning and discuss techniques, engages
students in learning, provides feedback to students, and
demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
·
Professional Responsibility - reflects on
teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates
professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and
develops professionally, and shows professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
prior teaching experience in Elementary Special
Education. Relevant State Endorsements required.
SALARY:
$33,366 - $52,262/ (as per the 2011-2012 collective bargaining
agreement)
