Substitute Teacher

JOB SUMMARY
To be on the Substitute Classroom Teacher On-call List.  The substitute's basic assignment includes: classroom teaching, assistance to pupils in need of help, administering the lesson plans in the absence of the teacher.
 
EXAMPLES OF COMMON DUTIES: 
¨      To administer the classroom and its programs. 
¨      To adhere to the rules, regulations and by-laws of the Board of Education
¨      To maintain such order and discipline in the classroom as shall be conducive to good instruction.
¨      To be on duty as assigned during the entire school day.
¨      To provide guidance to the pupil which will promote his welfare and his proper educational development.

¨      To respect the personality and individuality of the pupils under his/her direction and keep inviolate their confidences.
¨      To maintain cordial and workable relationships with all colleagues.
¨      To provide for the care and protection of school property.
¨      To perform other specific duties as assigned by the building administrator, such as lunchroom, homeroom, outside areas, halls, clerical, club and social activities.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Bachelor's Degree. 

PAY

The basic daily rate for substitute teachers in the Berlin Public Schools is as follows:

   $75 per day for regular substitute teachers

   $85 per day for CT retired teachers

   $95 per day for Berlin retired teachers
