Title or Position:   District Services Coach

 

Job Description:

 

The District Services Coach supports the NSSED student outcomes vision and helps students become successful, happy adults in home, school, work, and community by providing programs and services that ensure students:

 

 a) acquire/use knowledge and skills, b) interact well with others and have friends, c) take appropriate action to meet their needs, d) care about and contribute to society, and e) take actions to maintain health and wellness.

The mission of the NSSED District Services Coaching Team is to collaborate with educators to maximize student outcomes through a partnership approach.

 

The District Services Coach is an individual who has specialized content and instructional knowledge and expertise in research-based practices and innovative programs and strategies. The District Services Coach has expertise particularly in the areas of behavior, curriculum and content, assessment and instruction. The District Services Coach is instrumental in supporting NSSED's professional development model by collaborating with individual teachers and educational team members in the application and maintenance of newly acquired skills. The District Services Coach also works collaboratively with other coaches, school leaders and administrators to design and deliver high quality professional development. As a member of the coaching team, the District Services Coach participates in ongoing professional development and inquiry into his or her own leadership practice and personal growth.

Essential Job Function: 

 

       Engage in a coaching and learning approach that is based on the Partnership Principles of Equality, Choice, Voice, Dialogue, Reflection, Praxis and Reciprocity

       Collaborate with school staff to improve academic and behavioral outcomes for all students

       Effectively communicate and collaborative with educational teams, school administrators, students and parents to identify goals, plan and implement best practices in the delivery of services, assessment, curriculum, instruction and teaming

       Support best practices and research-based methods to improve outcomes for students by engaging in the effective components of coaching:

o   Establish rapport and build relationships

o   Identify goals and process for data collection

o   Collaborate with teams or teachers to co-construct a plan

o   Facilitate and model best practices in teaming, assessment, instructional methods and intervention for general and special education students and staff

o   Provide effective feedback

o   Provide support to help build capacity and support the maintenance of newly acquired skills

       Plan, design and deliver high quality professional development workshops, trainings and/or networking opportunities

       Share research, effective instructional practices and emerging trends

       Locate and link community-based resources based on district need


Qualifications:

 

       Professional Certification in teaching, school psychology, speech and language, social work or related field

       Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Optional)

       Highly experienced in working collaboratively with students, classroom teams, parents and administrators in the school setting

       Possess knowledge regarding Response to Intervention, behavioral principles,  functional assessment and supporting students with autism spectrum disorder

       Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills for problem-solving,  promoting initiatives and conveying expectations

       Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills

       Experience in analyzing data to plan for intervention and instructional methods

       Demonstrate ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team to facilitate problem solving

       Possess qualities of both ambition and humility to be an effective leader

       Demonstrate interest and engagement in on-going professional learning and reflection  

       Demonstrate the ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing

       Demonstrate strength in planning, organization, communication in scheduling and efficiently meeting deadlines
