  Description:
  • Work in collaboration with planning teams to improve the quality of service and instruction for students and ensure program initiatives align with district initiatives.
  • Develop, present, and monitor the results of training for district personnel in content that relates to students including, but not limited to inclusion, instruction, and/or behavior strategies.
  • Provide expertise to local campuses in instructional and/or behavioral strategies designed to facilitate student achievement within the general curriculum.
  • Assist campuses in planning and implementing programs for students with learning disorders.
  • Assist local campus personnel in monitoring student progress and student achievement toward goals and objectives through intervention plans, classroom observation, and teacher consultation.
  • Interface with outside agencies in order to plan and coordinate additional services for students.
  • Conduct seminars for students with learning disorders and conduct district-wide parent training workshops.
  • Develop and implement training programs for teachers in instructional strategies, behavior modification, classroom management, de-escalation, restraint techniques, and problem solving and team building skills.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and equipment for the assigned program.
  • Provide oversight in the design or modification, budget, and management of programs within district, state, federal and/or grant program guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of current technical, professional, and legislative trends affecting programs through focused staff development and local or national conferences.
  • Supervise the activities of direct reports in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education; valid Texas teacher's certification
  • Five years of relevant experience with three years of classroom teaching experience 
  • Demonstrated program development, implementation, presentation, and training skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instructional instruments related to education, and the ability to develop programs to address specific problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to review contextual test, assessment data and make instructional recommendations for students with special needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor classrooms and provide feedback to principals regarding instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret program guidelines.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Professional, and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of district personnel; students; parents; consultants; the TEA; other school districts; community agencies; and state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, budgeting, and interpersonal skills as required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Must have own transportation.
