Interpreter for Hearing Impaired

  QUALIFICATONS:

Applicants must have a minimum of Level 3 on the Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment. Strong interpersonal skills required. Skill in expressive transliterating/interpreting at a rate commensurate with conversational speech & class lectures. Adequate reverse interpreting/transliterating skill while maintaining the integrity of the message. High school diploma required.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate communication between the student(s) & peers & adults in the school environment.
• Study lesson content prior to class to ensure accurate representation of the lesson.
• Tutor students who are deaf or hard of hearing under the direction of the teacher. Provides feedback tot eh teacher(s) upon request.
• Serves as a liaison to promote positive & cooperative relationships within the school environment.
• Individual will work as a part of an Individualized Education Program team.
• Other duties as assigned.

  SALARY:

State Salary Scale based on experience with no benefits. Position begins immediately & ends upon completion of the 2012-2013 school year.
