DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
Overview
:
The Executive Director of
Student Services will plan, develop, direct, monitor, and
maintain the day-to-day operational and fiscal functions of
the K-12 Student Services. The position will provide guidance
and leadership in planning programs to meet a variety of
special needs and review such plans to ensure compliance with
State, Federal, and local regulations. The position works
with school principals and other administrators in the
planning, implementing, and coordinating services in areas
including, but not limited to attendance, safety, and
discipline.
In addition, the position contributes to the development of
long-range and short-term goals and operating plans for the
District's specialized programs. Desired qualifications
include:
Illinois Type 75
(Administrative) Certificate
Masters Degree with academic
training in Special Education preferred
Working knowledge and experience
in positive, research-based behavior intervention
strategies
A history of strong leadership
and communication skills
Skilled in staff evaluation and
group facilitation
Successful experience in dealing
with professional staff and parents
A minimum of five years
experience in public education, part of which must have been
in teaching and/or supervision.
Experience with Title I, Section
504, and persons with disabilities and/or handicaps and other
related Special Education conditions
Training in Crisis
