GCS is currently accepting applications for 6th through 10th grade teachers for the 2012-
2013 school year. Currently, GCS schools provide college preparatory curriculum for
grades 6-9th. GCS teachers design weekly lessons plans, develop standards-based
assessments, analyze assessment data, and create intervention plans to meet our
scholars’ needs. In addition, GCS teachers integrate technology effectively in the
classrooms, and implement project-based learning. The GCS school day runs from 7:15
am to 4:45 pm.
9th -10th Grade
English I (Writing), Literature I (Reading), English II (Writing), Literature II (Reading),
Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Biology, Spanish I, Spanish II, Chemistry, School
Counselor, Special Educator, World History and Geography, United States History, Art,
Music, Wellness, Physical Education, and Business Education
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of effective teaching experience
- Must hold a current TN teaching license in appropriate subject area
- Proven experience with providing high quality instruction geared to student
- mastery as evident in student performance data
- Belief that all students can learn at high academic levels
- Highly proficient in MS Office, student online curriculum and intervention programs, teacher online grade book programs, and the effective use of the Internet
- Undergraduate and/or graduate majors aligned to subject-area certification
- Strong knowledge of academic and behavior interventions
- Special Educators and School Counselors must hold a Masters Degree
