Work under the supervision of a licensed teacher assisting with student groups in the classroom. Also, lunch room and recess duty.
High school graduation or equivalent, plus 48 college credit hour or pass three assessments in the areas of Math, Reading and Listening/Writing. Experience with instructional support of students in small groups or with individual students in the classroom. The focus of this paraeducator position will be to support students in the classroom with literacy instruction. Ability to take the initiative in positively managing student behavior; able to multi-task; works collaboratively with teachers and others to implement lesson plans; follows directions with minimal guidance. Assist with preparing materials for instruction. Respects confidentiality of staff and students and understands privacy issues within schools; manages time effectively.
