RE:            Temporary Master Mechanic at District Services Building

The position of Temporary Master Mechanic at the District Services Building is now open for bid.  This is a full time Class 8 position from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for 40 hours per week.  For external applicants, salary scale is $15.44 - $20.88 per hour based on education/experience. 

Responsibilities:

     ¨   To maintain school district vehicles and equipment in safe operation in conformity with

           local, county, state, and federal requirements.

Qualifications:

¨       Current Master Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic certification by the State of Michigan in gas and diesel engines, drive train, suspension, brakes, and electrical systems.

¨       Must have 5 years previous experience as a heavy-duty diesel truck and gas-powered small engines mechanic.

¨       Experience in performing a wide variety of repair tasks, to include diagnosing mechanical problems and working harmoniously with the public and school employees.

¨       Ability to be certified as a school bus driver and meet all requirements within the probationary period.

¨       Proficiency in gas and arc welding.

¨       Knowledge of and experience in the use of shop equipment.

¨       Must be able to be insured by the school district’s auto and liability insurance carrier.

¨       Ability to lift 75 pounds.

The successful bidder must meet the average requirements of the job within the trial period of thirty (30) working days.
