Parent Liaison

Job Summary:  The Parent Liaison works in schools to support the compliant implementation of Title I educational and community-outreach services and provides information to parents of students.  The Parent Liaison is to ensure that information flows steadily and effectively between the school system and the parents of Title I eligible students.  The Parent Liaison will provide parents with information sessions, pass out printed material and/or talk with concerned parents.  Parent Liaisons will attend school community meetings and quarterly meetings with the Comp. Ed. Grant Director to gain information to communicate to parents.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Assist in the development, implementation, review and evaluation of instructional programs and materials for all Title I areas
• Assist the Title I building administrator in planning and conducting parental involvement activities for Title I parents/guardians
• Communicate with classroom teachers, principals and staff to determine needs and suggest improvements via the School Quality Team
• Serve as a resource person for the staff, teachers and parents in the selection of instructional supplies, materials and equipment for the eligible Title I students
• Attend all Title I parent activities, including the required annual meetings and the parent workshops
• Meet quarterly with the Director of State and Federal programs
• Participate in the building level PTA/PTO and serves as its Title I parental involvement resource person
• Serve as a member of a sub-committee of the B.E.S.T. Team on the district-wide Title A Parent Engagement Partnership Team (P.E.P. Team)
• Assist in the planning of the building level Parent Engagement Plan (P.E.P.)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• An Associates Degree (or) minimum of 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university (or) pass the ACTWorkKeys; Job Skills Assessment
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in activities related to parental involvement preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years experience working with Title I eligible children and parents preferred
