Forest View Educational Center - Will be assigned to support two high schools


Reports to:                 Associate Superintendent for Educational Services and Associate Principal for Instruction
Length of Contract:   Teacher Work Year (185 days) plus 10 Days

Township High School District 214 is seeking exceptional candidates with a strong academic background in their content area(s) and the desire to maximize student learning while achieving success with our district goals.  Candidates must be enthusiastic about working in collaborative teams.

Job Summary:
 
The Instructional Technology Coordinator is a content area specialist, who is responsible for the integration of technology into all instructional areas. This person works with building administrators, librarians and teachers to provide training and assistance to ensure that technology is used appropriately in all instructional programs. The Instructional Technology Coordinator works closely with the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services to develop and maintain structures for systemic delivery of instruction throughout the district.


Special Qualifications:

 

  • State of Illinois high school certification (09) with an endorsement in a content area or Technology Education.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff.
  • Experience with technology and online resources.
  • Mastery in the use of instructional and multimedia technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to working as a contributing member of the district technology team to enhance and improve integration of technology into a standards-based curriculum leading to increased student achievement.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership and technology staff development experience.

    • Specific Duties:

     

  • Provides on-going staff development, training and assistance for staff in the use of technology and technology applications.
  • Promotes and supports the use of technology in the school, district, and community.
  • Prepares materials for and conducts training sessions on the use of technology.
  • Provides leadership and assistance in reviewing, selecting, and implementing software or web subscription sites appropriate for integration throughout the curriculum.
  • Supervises instructional technology uses throughout the building maintaining the district's integrity with respect to copyright laws.
  • Keeps informed of new developments in the field of newer instructional technologies and disseminates information about new instructional delivery services.
  • Serves on instructional technology committees and provides direction to the district in instructional technology.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation of the district technology plan.
  • Advises on all instructional technology purchases in the building and district.
  • Assists in the designs and plans for technology facilities (hardware, furniture, room arrangements, software, peripherals).
  • Remains current in content delivery trends, new software and assessment technology.
  • Assists with development of online curriculum within curricular areas.
  • Develops 'best practice' models.
  • Models the integration of technology across the curriculum.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of 'best practice' models and their impact on student learning.
  • Acts as a liaison between classroom teachers and the central office for technology and curriculum support.
  • Facilitates school participation in special activities; e.g., showcases, awards, contests, and grants.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services, and the Associate Principal for Instruction.
