George Mason High
School is seeking Special Education teachers for the 2012 -
2013 school year. Teachers should be endorsed in
English, Math and/or Social Studies.
Successful candidates
should possess:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABLITIES

Knowledge of FCCPS
curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, FCCPS
policies and effective instructional practices.
·
A thorough understanding of
the teaching and learning process.
·
The ability to provide
instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural
education.
·
The ability to infuse
technology into curriculum.
·
Knowledge of and adherence
to legal procedures as contained in local, state and federal
policies governing special education, including IDEA laws and
guidelines.
·
The ability to work
effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office,
school-based staff, students, parents and the community.
·
Knowledge of the FCCPS case
management manual and special education laws and procedures.
·
Excellent oral and written
communication.
·
Human relations skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·
Have a Bachelors Degree in
an approved program for special education - general curriculum or
a completed major in special education - general curriculum or
adapted curriculum in the education of students with disabilities
in the assigned area required.
·
Be eligible for or possess a
valid Collegiate Professional License from the State of Virginia
in the content area being taught.
·
Be highly qualified in
content area or hold necessary content endorsement.
