                                                                            JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION:                                     Maintenance/Custodial

 

REPORTS TO:                          Coordinator of Building and Grounds

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                       Experience in building and maintenance

                                                            Basic knowledge of computer use

 

EVALUATION:                          Conducted on an annual basis in accordance with Cooperative guidelines

 

TERMS OF                                               Length of employment, salary and benefits determined by the

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

    

Performance:

  • Working knowledge of electric, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC systems and ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to these systems
  • Assumes daily responsibility for securing and opening facilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge and workmanlike ability in the operation of tools and machines, handling of materials, health and safety practices
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring individual lifting of 75 pounds, operating power tools and equipment and a valid drivers license
  • Moves Cooperative classrooms, furniture and equipment
  • Performs seasonal maintenance ground activities, including snow removal and cutting grass
  • Performs summer building maintenance (e.g. painting, carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing floors)
  • Monitors part-time student workers, including DORS and JTPA 
  • Basic knowledge of Windows to facilitate use of computers
  • Assists in cleaning facilities when necessary
  • Work effectively with others and under time pressure
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Willing to expand knowledge and skills to meet facility needs

      


Communication Skills

·         Confers with Coordinator of Building and Grounds on a regular basis regarding building maintenance activities and custodial duties

  • Assists Coordinator of Building and Grounds in maintaining open and effective communication with school and community
  • Communicates in a helpful, positive and efficient manner with students, subordinates, peers, supervisors, educational staff, parents and visitors
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and MS Outlook email
