Special Education (K-12) & Rti Interventionist - White Mountain
Bering Strait School District is currently accepting applications for a combination Special Education and Rti Interventionist for the 2012-13 school year. This teacher will have a small IEP caseload for this K-12 school in the village of White Mountain, and provide intervention support for both general eduaction and special needs students. We are beginning to do interviews by Skype, video conference and other means.
We are a standards-based and data-driven district, and require
progressive, flexible
teachers who are supportive of collaborative models of service
delivery, a Response to Intervention (Rti) approach to instruction, and who
are willing to implement a variety of strategies. Successful work or
travel experience in cross cultural settings would
be a plus, as would co-teaching, or regular education teaching
experience.
Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to
prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. BSSD utilizes a
comprehensive web database called Goalview for all student and
compliance paperwork, and each teacher is issued an Apple OS X laptop.
Special Education team member use Skype for VOIP, and other technology
tools on a daily basis. Each Special Education teacher has access to
Linux Netbooks for student use, as well as Macintosh computers in their
classroom. Video conference technology is used for collaborate team
meetings, assessment and staff development throughout the year.
Our district offers very competitive salaries, many strong
opportunities for staff development, and an innovative professional
climate. When it comes to unique living and work experiences, we have
some of the best. Check our website for details about our district, as
well as video clips of our villages, and even a forum for posting
questions.
We have a BSSD video of this school and village on our website:
