Database Programmer/IT Support Specialist - The Database Programmer/IT Support Specialist is a dual role responsible for planning, informing the direction of and building out the GCS PowerSchool service, any database-related services and supporting the day-to-day needs of GCS school(s) when needed.


Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, develop and implement specialized computer application systems required by users. Initially this will mainly pertain to the Pearson PowerSchool product.
  • Creating customized reports from data in existing systems.
  • Review database systems and suggesting changes to simplify or enhance the systems.
  • Resolving procedural and programming problems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of database services and to enable enhanced productivity via said services.
  • Documenting all changes, build outs and enhancements for both internal review and end user usage.
  • Handling incoming support requests via a ticketing system.
  • Imaging equipment annually.
  • Identify and correct or advise on operational issues in client computer systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing hardware for which the technician is certified to work on.

Qualifications:

  • Requires an Associate's degree in computer programming supplemented by three to five years of computer system analysis, programming and maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience with Oracle database programming.
  • Experience with other programming languages including but not limited to SQL, Java, C++, Cocoa, PHP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience with PowerSchool is recommended.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-starting individual who can independently manage their workload and meet deadlines.
  • Team player that doesn't mind stepping outside of their role to support the needs of the organization.
  • Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications.
  • Experience with the Macintosh platform.
  • Possess Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) certification or able to become certified within 30 days of being hired.
