Description:  

Drives a diesel or gas school bus over a designated route in conformity with an established time schedule; picking up and discharging pupils at designated stops; supervises conduct of pupils being transported; transports children and teachers on field trips; assists in maintaining the bus equipment in clean and safe condition; sweeps the interior of buses and maintains windows in clean condition at all times; keep simple records and make reports. Perform related duties as required.

Job Summary: 
The position involves working 4-hours per day, 10 months per year.  The bus driver will be under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager and the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.

Qualifications: 
School Bus Driver requirements- California Drivers License (w/class B and PS endorsement), DMV Special Driver Certificate, DMV H-6 (10 year driving record), DL51/DL51A , and a TO-1 card. Knowledge of safe driving practices; provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code; School Bus Driver Manual of the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District and the Educational Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children; basic preventive maintenance requirements of automotive equipment; ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently (84 passengers); maintain order among children on a school bus; follow oral and written directions; ability to do manual labor; completion of the tenth grade or equivalent; successful completion of the examination for school bus drivers given by the California Highway Patrol; complete and pass basic first aid courses; completion of an approved Bus Driver Training Course; possession of a California Special Driver Certificate; pass a substance abuse test (applicant's expense). The ability to successfully meet physical requirements of the job. Must pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment.
 
Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (31) $15.47 to 18.91 per hour, eight (8) steps, four (4) hours per day, five (5) days per week, school days only. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical and vision insurance plans are prorated according to the number of hours worked. Prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to the number of hours worked.

Selection Procedure:

As required by California State Law should you be employed by the district, your fingerprints will be taken and submitted to the Justice Department and the FBI for a background check.
