200 Day Position - Noble & Canterbury Elementary Schools

The IB Program Specialist is responsible for the development, coordination and monitoring of the IB Primary Years program as well as supporting curriculum articulation. The IB Specialist works collaboratively with teachers to effectively implement the primary years program and strives to ensure that the curriculum is implemented to meet the needs of all students.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide leadership to teams and individuals in the written, taught and learned elements of the PYP curriculum framework and the ongoing development of both an environment of inquiry and subject-based and trans-disciplinary units of inquiry
  • Collaborate with teachers to achieve integration of stand alone, single subjects and PYP units of inquiry
  • Investigate new resources including teaching materials, websites, professional books and journals
  • Monitor assessment practices and procedures to ensure a balanced approach at each year level in line with the assessment policy and the PYP
  • Lead the process of developing, reviewing and revising the school's program of inquiry
  • Collaborate within the IB worldwide network including networking with candidate schools/authorized schools and maintain partnerships with local IB school communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ohio Teaching License
  • A comprehensive understanding of contemporary teaching and learning theories and practice
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Primary/Elementary curriculum or the ability to learn
  • A practical understanding of collaborative planning
  • An understanding of adult learning and contemporary leadership practices
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and multi-task
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, students and parents
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior knowledge if the Primary Years Program
  • Three to five years of successful classroom teaching
  • Previous experience in a multicultural work setting
