  EPIC Early Childhood Parent Facilitator

The EPIC Early Childhood Parent Facilitator is directly responsible to the Early Childhood Program Coordinator and indirectly responsible to the Chief Academic Officer

Location: EPIC

Responsibilities General Duties: (1) Collaborate with early childhood administrators, preschool teachers and parents to develop, maintain, implement and monitor a parent education program that promotes and encourages better understanding between teachers, parents and other staff regarding childhood development and learning processes.  Specific Duties: (1) Collaborate with early childhood administration to develop a parent education curriculum that is aligned with the EPIC preschool curriculum and the Illinois Early Learning Standards with an emphasis on child development, preschool educational skills and early literacy skills; (2) Develop, implement and maintain a parent-child reward program focused on increasing parent participation in child development and preschool educational activities; (3) Plan, schedule and facilitate parent meetings that focus on childhood development, learning processes and parenting roles and responsibilities that include parent/child interactive preschool development and early literacy skills; (4) collaborate with other education and social service agencies to develop a parenting education program that meets the educational needs of  preschool parents and their children that does not duplicate services provided to these families by other agencies; (5) collaborate with early childhood personnel to develop a parent education program that encourages parent participation in classroom activities that focus on teaching parents to work with their children on social and education preschool skills. Program Monitoring: (1) Meet regularly with building and program staff to develop and maintain parent education program quality and foster continuing appraisal of the parent education schedule for the program.  Keep the building administrators informed of curriculum activities planned by the families; (2) Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an inventory of the materials and resources of the program.  Assist with ordering of workbooks and other supplies for the program.  Prepare reports and perform other needed tasks as requested by the coordinator.  Assist with the collection and reporting of statistics and data as necessary for curriculum department reports.  

Qualifications
: (1) College degree in Early Childhood or related field; (2) two years experience working with families and children in an education setting; (3) demonstrated understanding of child development and educational needs; (4) effective oral and written communication skills; (5) demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of professional disciplines; (6) proven ability to work collaboratively with teachers and parents; (7) ability to work flexible hours, days, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed; (8) other employment criteria of the district as applicable.

Salary:  Dependent upon education and experience.  (Pending Grant Funding).

:  10 Months
