TITLE: Instructional Coach
- Valid Illinois certification in teaching and Master's degree or beyond from an accredited college or university
- Five years of successful teaching with positive evaluations in areas associated with this position and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors
- Experience with technology and the organization, analysis and evaluation of data
- Demonstrated experience in the area of School Improvement Planning
- Functions as a team member and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to recommend, implement and evaluate instructional strategies and materials across the curriculum
- Exhibits knowledge in the diagnosis and assessment across curriculum areas
- Knowledge of Board, State and Federal guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure accountability
- Knowledge and expertise in the area of scientifically-based research to address student achievement and closure of the achievement gap

To provide support, assistance, and leadership to principals, teachers and staff in the
areas of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and with the School
Improvement planning process.
(The following are the essential fundamentals to include but not limited to the following job duties.)
- Facilitate the development and accountability of school improvement planning.
- Assist the staff and leadership in advocating, facilitating and the implementation of strategies that improve student achievement and close the achievement gap.
- Participate in professional learning to keep current in educational field
- Assist/Model best practices in integrating curriculum across content areas
- Facilitate alignment of district curriculum, instruction, professional development, technology and assessment practices with Common Core Standards
- Maintain curriculum specialist responsibilities in designated areas as required
- Mentor/Assist new or re-assigned teachers to insure continuation of programs and instruction
- Assist in the allocation of school resources and supplementary materials to support classroom instruction, the School Improvement Plan, and student achievement within assigned facilities.
- Organize systems of data collection to allow for the comparison, analysis and evaluation of information within assigned building.
- Maintain knowledge of current Board, Federal, State and local regulations.
- Utilize local agencies and resources to enhance the services to the school.
- Provide technical support to the district, building principal and building leadership in on-going professional development with a focus on school improvement.
- Collaborate with building staff members in designing effective parental education activities as needed with limitations.
- Provides support and direction for District and School Improvement Planning, including other ESEA required plans and mandates.
- Chairs and/or serves on a variety of advisory committees at building, district, community and state levels.
- Provides training and support for diagnostic and evaluative assessment.
- Assists/models best practices in integrating curriculum across content areas.
- Plans and facilitates curriculum in-service meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Wages, terms, and conditions of employment pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between the Decatur Education Association and the Decatur Public Schools #61 Board of Education.
At times this position may require more than the work day to perform the essential duties of the position, therefore, this position allows for flex time due to meetings and duties that may extend beyond the professional work day. The flex time will be coordinated with the Director of Curriculum Instruction and/Director of Special Programs.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
