PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Elementary Child Nutrition Manager is responsible for supervising the cooking and preparation of meals for students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED
Experience in Child Nutrition management
TSFSA Certification
Computer knowledge
Lift 30 pounds continuously and occasionally up to 75 pounds
Capable of working well with others
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of meals for students.
- Supervise the daily operation of a school campus kitchen.
- Select and adjust recipes.
- Purchase and plan amount of food supplies required.
- Check deliveries, store, and keep inventory of supplies.
- Prepare weekly food production record and employees daily work schedule.
- Perform necessary bookkeeping functions such as keeping a financial report for his/her individual campus making sure not to exceed the budget.
- Train employees and supervise standard of work performance.
- Teach safety, health and sanitation in the kitchen.
- Work for an effective staff relationship to develop skills.
- Work with the Director of Food Services to learn school policies.
- Observe safety rules and regulations.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate food service workers as assigned to campus cafeteria
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Personal computer, calculator, large and small kitchen equipment to include but not limited to: electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, sharp cutting tools, ovens, dishwashers, and food and utility carts

- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling: frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), heavy lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
