Summer
School Language Liaison

The 2012 Summer School Program will
begin at each site on June 18<sup>th</sup> and will continue until July 19<sup>th</sup>. Students will be in attendance for 3
hours daily. Language Liaison will
work 5 hours daily Monday through Thursday. (15 minutes before the start of the school day and 15
minutes at the end of the school day).
There will be no school on Fridays or July 4<sup>th</sup>. (Language Liaison hours: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
Professional development will be
conducted on June 12, 13, and 14, (4 hours a day). Attendance is mandatory at all professional development
sessions.
Language Liaison will be paid a
commensurate with the hourly rate.
Federal, and State withholding will be taken from the amount
earned. Absences or tardiness will
result in a decreased amount as indicated in this job description.
Responsibilities: (1)
Meet with and respond to calls from parents; (2) Process registration forms;
(3) Assist nurses/social workers to obtain social and health histories; (4)
Assist special education personnel explain programs; (5) Attend parent
conferences and Individual Education Plan meetings; (6) Assist related services
staff in translating their findings; (7) Assist in written translation and
typing of pertinent special education documents and forms; (8) Perform other
duties assigned by the special education coordinator or by the Director of
Specialized Services.
Failure to
fulfill these duties and responsibilities may result in dismissal from the
program. No more than two days can
be missed without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract unless
extenuating circumstances prevail.
A penalty of $150 per day of instruction will be deducted from the
agreement for any school day missed and $200 for each four hour day of
professional development. An
hourly rate of $35 per hour will be deducted for each hour or partial hour
missed. This includes time before
and after the start and end of the school day and all professional development
sessions.
Salary: $12.14
per hour
Qualifications: Pass
bilingual test and paraprofessional test.
Experience preferred.
