Instructional Technology Specialist (2012-2013)

Responsibilities

  • Administer the network for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional technology services to authorized users and to constantly revise the pool of authorized users based on staffing changes
  • Deploy hardware and software to users, and assist with installation of computer labs, mobile carts, wireless devices, and all other approved network linked devices
  • Align network services for the purpose of following the mission and vision of the district, and in a manner consistent with applicable law and Hoboken Board of Education policy
  • Maintain the Genesis Student Information System database
  • Serve as the primary district contact person regarding Genesis troubleshooting, maintenance, and new module implementation
  • Work with other district employees to plan the deployment of instructional techology within the classrooms
  • Coordinate professional development as related to instructional technology for teachers, administrators and support staff
  • Coordinate and assist with any online learning programs to be developed for students
  • Develop a website for student and teacher technology resources
  • Provide and recommend professional development for others after ascertaining training needs
  • Restore service promptly and resolve problems either onsite or remotely in the event of loss of service, as needed, and outside of typical working hours, if necessary
  • Serve as liaison between the Business Office and technology vendors, for the purpose of securing products and services related to instructional technology
  • Satisfactorily perform the functions of the job while adhering to all required safety practices and procedures
  • Work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods
  • Operate within a defined budget
  • Develop and administer an annual technology survey to identify needs from the viewpoint of staff and the community, and report the results to the Superintendent
  • Work with district employees to compile data and to complete required NJ Smart data collections and other tasks related to collection of student performance data
  • Serve as the district liaison at county, regional and state instructional technology meetings, and share trends, research and effective practices with staff and administration

Requirements

  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including experience with technology integration, professional development, and adult education
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Experience with district-owned software preferred

Qualifications

  • NJ Teacher Certification (additional administrative certification preferred)
  • Bachelor Degree in job related area (Master Degree preferred)
