Minimum Qualification
Requirements
·
Current Alaska
Type A Teaching Certificate or in the process of obtaining an
Alaska certificate.
·
Experience
teaching secondary students in 7 - 12 grade.
·
Experience
teaching multi-grade classrooms.
·
Special
education endorsement preferred.
·
Knowledge and
understanding of Alaska State Professional Teaching Practices
Commission.
·
Ability to plan,
organize, develop, prepare and deliver, under minimal
supervision, educational programs to students.
·
Experience with
and understanding of standards based instruction.
·
Successful rural
teaching experience or can demonstrate the ability and knowledge
to work competently with Alaska Native students and all students
in an isolated, rural setting.
·
Experience with
and understanding of ongoing formative and summative assessments
and can demonstrate effective use of such assessments in a
classroom setting. Ability to use the data to improve
instruction and learning for students.
·
Experience with
and understanding of best teaching practices and can explain and
demonstrate effective use of such practices in a classroom
setting.
·
The physical and
mental capacity to adjust to challenging and remote
environments.
·
Proficient
technology skills in commonly used software programs, email, and
the internet.
·
Willingness to
teach in other disciplines as required.
·
Ability to
integrate content areas.
·
Ability to work
collaboratively with other district employees.
·
Cross-cultural
experience and/or coursework preferred.
