PRIMARY TASKS
Assist in addressing varied technology needs of the
District and the District network with an emphasis on John Thomas
School of Discovery (JTSD) and the High School. Assist in
managing departmental, building and District servers, including
e-mail and websites. Assist in maintaining existing PBX and
NBX telephone systems. Perform problem diagnosis and
resolution on District technology resources. Assist as needed
with hardware and software installation and
implementation.
MUST BE ABLE TO:
Maintain and repair building and network
equipment, including multiple computer labs. Maintain
repair/maintenance and inventory records for all technology
equipment. Collaborate and assist in the maintenance of
software for the automation of various tasks (student records,
finance, curriculum, sporting events, library, reading, meal
service, security, etc.); server applications; operating systems;
and designated applications. Research and make technical
recommendations regarding network design and hard/software
purchases and licensing. Oversee/Monitor installation of
infrastructure for new buildings. Collaborate with other
technicians, staff, and faculty.
EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not
required. Certification(s) desired. Proficiency and a
minimum of 2 years' recent experience installing and managing
Internet interconnectivity, e-mail systems, web server, as well as
Linux, Windows OS, Windows Domains/Active directory, Mac OS for
both servers and workstations, and LAN and WAN networking
infrastructures. Knowledge of basic blueprint reading and
engineering specifications helpful. Knowledge of multiple
telecommunication mediums. Willingness to learn and
collaborate in an educational environment. Willingness to
understand and support the District's Comprehensive School
Improvement Plan and the District Technology Plan. Must
successfully pass a background check and drug test that are
satisfactory to the Board of Education.
