Education/Certification: Must be eligible or possess an Alaska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in special education. Possession of or eligibility for State of Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate preferred.
Experience: Three years of recent successful special education experience required. Administrative experience at either the school building level or within special education preferred. Experience required in team decision-making. Experience preferred in the areas of due process hearings, state and federal monitoring procedures, and Chapter 52 of the Alaska School Laws and Regulations.
Skills: Must have skills for conflict resolution, research, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of special education procedures, law, and current best practice.
Abilities: Ability to work effectively with parents, teachers, principals, and district administrators required.
