MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nurse will be under the direction of the Director of Special Services and under the direction of the school Principal when on a school site. The Nurse will participate on the special education committee by assessing health status of those students evaluated; attend and participate in evaluation and placement meetings; conduct and coordinate mandated screening programs; attend to recording referrals and follow-up; maintain a program of prevention and control of communicable diseases; make individual health assessments on referred students and to counsel students and parents about appropriate sources of care and assistance; develop and maintain school procedures for children with special health problems; assist in establishing and interpreting health and safety rules and regulations for first aid procedures; serve as a resource for inservice needs of staff and health education activities of students; serve as a resource to school-site staff in school safety planning and in attendance at SST, 504, and IEP meetings; serve as liaison between school and community resources; and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
California School Nurse Services credential and California registered nurse license required.
SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE:
Salary range of $58,348 to $70,485 per year, five (5) steps. The contract is for 194 working days, five (5) days per week during the school year. Holiday and sick leave benefits. The District currently contributes $14,635 for family medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health. Life insurance for employee only.
