Library Assistant
Library Assistant is directly responsible to the school
principal in coordination with the Coordinator of Library Media
Department. Library Assistant will
provide for the organization and circulation of school library media center
materials.
Location: WHS
Brookside
Responsibilities:
(1) Assist staff in locating, circulating, and utilizing library
materials: print and non-print; (2) Schedule the use of the school library
media center in coordination with the building principal; (3) Serve as a
liaison between the building staff and District Library Media Services; (4)
Assist in the coordination of district-wide library and reading initiatives and
participate in district library media services staff meetings; (5) Assist
students in locating and utilizing library materials; print and non-print, and
equipment in the LMC; (6) Circulate materials and maintain overdue list and
notify students, parents, and the building principal of the cost of lost and or
overdue materials; (7) Keep library materials ready for circulation by
replacing worn pockets, used book cards and date due slips and repairing items;
(8) Make arrangements for the replacement of lost or worn materials and
supplies, repair of broken library equipment; (9) Complete beginning and End of
the Year activities as established by the District Library Media Coordinator;
(10) Provide coordinator and principal with listing of gift materials, book
fair and materials added to the collection; (11) Any other school and/or
district library media duties as assigned by the building principal or the
district coordinator during regularly scheduled workday.
Qualifications:
(1) High School diploma or equivalent; (2) 60 College Credits or Associate
Degree; (3) Illinois Teacher Aide Approval; (4) Ability to pass the
paraprofessional basic skills test administered in the Human Resources Officer,
1201 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL 60085
Salary: $10.92 per hour
Additional Information: 8 hours day/ 40 hours a
weeks
