The Council Bluffs Community School District is seeking applicants in the field of special education for the following 2012-2013 teaching position:
ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION

Educational Requirement
· Applicant must hold or be able to obtain appropriate Iowa teacher license with Instructional Strategist I
endorsement or equivalent
Essential Requirements
· Must have a willingness to work in a multi-categorical setting serving the needs of MD and LD students
in a combined educational setting
· Must have an interest in developing and practicing teaming with both regular education and special
education teachers; the teacher will need to develop strategies to assist and complement the efforts of the regular education teacher as well as providing individualized instruction
· Must have a willingness to assume responsibilities for being a team leader for team meetings, IEP
developments, and other specific elements of supervision and follow-up for the maintenance of records
and implementation of services with support personnel from AEA 13
· Must have an interest in participating in the change process as a positive contributing member to
developing program innovations and refining the key elements of the special education building plan
· Must be knowledgeable about curriculum approaches which will enhance student achievement and
provide opportunities for children to transfer acquired skills to the regular classroom
· Must have highly developed communication and human relations skills when dealing with parents,
students and colleagues
· Must have training and/or experience in working with intervention strategies for crisis management and
problem solving
· Must demonstrate an interest and willingness to seek out new learning opportunities and to integrate
these new skills by sharing insights and training skills with fellow staff members
· Must have a knowledge of practices for special education and regular education
