REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Elementary and Secondary Education
SALARY: $95,203 minimum (Dependent on experience; Based on 2010-2012 Salary Schedule)
WORK YEAR: Full-time; 235 Days; Position starts Approximately July 1, 2012
The Middle School Principal manages the educational programs, operations, personnel, and financial resources within the building to ensure that district policies are followed, district and state standards are achieved, and that the educational needs of all students are met. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
Job Summary: *Fosters high student achievement and provides learning experiences that will support all students to meet or exceed proficiency. *Maintains a safe and welcoming learning environment where all individuals are respected. *Efficiently and effectively manages to maximize educational resources. *Works with building and district personnel to implement instructional programs that support learning opportunities for all students. *Coordinates the involvement of various building stakeholders--staff, parents/guardians, students--in the development and implementation of policies that enhance opportunities for students. *Conducts classroom observations and evaluates the effectiveness of staff. *Monitors and evaluates the curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs within the building. *Develops building policies and procedures dealing with behavior management, substance abuse, special programs, parent/student problems, etc... *Oversees development of the school's master schedule. *Develops and administers the approved building budget. *Makes decisions relating to human resources within the building, including hiring, discipline, training and development, performance appraisal, and related activities. *Is an integral member of the district leadership team, serving on building, district, and community committees. *Designs and implements a building-level public relations program. *Develops and directs the preparation of building emergency procedures and responses. *Directs the maintenance and improvement of the school plant, facilities, and equipment. *Monitors the completion of reports, records, and communications required by the District and State. *Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
Qualifications:
*Licensure in secondary administration (must hold or be eligible for MN license as a secondary or elementary principal). 6th Year Degree required. *Middle school and/or secondary administrative and teaching experience preferred. *Proven record as an instructional leader. *Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community. *Successful experience in working with diverse populations. *Successful experience in facilitating educational change. *Experience in developing and implementing site based shared decision making. *Ability to develop a site plan that is aligned with the district Aim, Goals and Measures. *Effective oral and written communication skills. *Excellent organizational skills. *Current knowledge and experience in implementation of technology to support instruction.
