QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling; proper office methods, techniques, and practices including filing systems, business correspondence, receptionist techniques, and report writing; word processing techniques and computer software applications.
Must possess the skill to type accurately at a rate of 60 net words per minute; learn the operations, procedures, policies, and requirements of assigned program or department and apply them with good judgment in a variety of situations; learn, interpret, and successfully apply District rules and policies while independently carrying out a variety of routine administrative procedures; coordinate work flow among clerical staff and student assistants assigned to program or office; analyze situations and take appropriate action regarding routine administrative matters without immediate supervision; perform mathematical calculations accurately; establish and maintain efficient record keeping/filing system and prepare reports; operate a variety of standard office machines and equipment; maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
WILL REQUIRE OCCASIONAL EVENING WORK.
Three years of stenographic and general clerical experience, including some supervisory experience, is required. May require the skill to take dictation at a speed of not less than 80 words per minute and transcribe with speed and accuracy.
A RECENT TYPING CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: To perform a wide variety of advanced clerical/secretarial duties in support of the day-to-day operations relating to specific programs and procedures within assigned operational unit, school office, or department. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a departmental/school site administrator within a broad framework of policies and procedures. Successful candidate may direct, coordinate, and monitor the work of others in a lead supervisory capacity. This position performs complex and highly responsible secretarial/administrative and operational support functions at a lead or advanced journey level of classification. This job classification requires the use of initiative, organizational skill, problem-solving skills, and independent judgment.
STARTING SALARY: $2,772.69 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
