  Art Teacher (K-12) - Koyuk

BSSD - Alaska's Most Progressive School DistrictBering Strait School District has an opening for an Art Teacher (K-12) for the 2012-13 school year in the village of Koyuk.  We are beginning to do interviews by Skype, video conference and other means. This position is flexible in certification, but would require certification and skill in the traditional "shop" areas of instruction.

We are a standards-based and data-driven district, and require progressive, flexible teachers who are supportive of a Response to Intervention (Rti) approach to instruction,  and willing to implement related strategies.

Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. BSSD utilizes a comprehensive web database for tracking student progress called DART, technology is used for most day-to-day tasks. The district has an employee purchase program for computers, and an excellent technology infrastructure. All classrooms are wirelessly connected to the Internet.

Our district offers very competitive salaries, many strong opportunities for staff development, and an innovative professional climate. When it comes to unique living and work experiences, we have some of the best. Check our website for details about our district, as well as video clips of our villages, and even a forum for posting questions.
