QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree plus additional graduate work in
education and
psychology.
A valid certificate to practice as a school
psychologist.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board
may
find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
1.
Assesses difficulties of referred students through
appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
2.
Administers tests and recommends appropriate special
education diagnosis and services based upon knowledge of special
education and assessment information.
3.
Helps identify within the school district all types of
exceptional children.
4.
Prepares and maintains case records on all referred
students.
5.
Conducts reviews, update, evaluations, staffings, etc. as
required for special education and regular education
students.
6.
Makes recommendations to better meet the child's
needs.
7.
Conducts individual, group, or facilitative therapy for
children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior
modification.
8.
Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
9.
Consults on special educational needs of handicapped,
emotionally disturbed, slow-learning children, and other special
education pupils.
10.
Prepares and attends case conferences on placement of individual
students.
11.
Serves as a consultant on mental topics for instructors in the
school health program.
12.
Interprets the school psychological services to teachers
and parents.
13.
Prepares and submits required reports on handicapped
children, other special education students, regular education
students and programs.
14.
Cooperates with personnel of community health and social
welfare agencies.
15.
Acts as liaison between the school and the juvenile
court.
16.
Attends staff, professional and interagency meetings.
17.
Assists with inservice training of school personnel.
18.
Conducts appropriate research.
19.
Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
20.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other
responsibilities as the Special Program Coordinator may
assign.
