Job Summary
Maintaining, cleaning of building,
emptying trash, dusting, carpet and floor cleaning, restroom, kitchen, floor
waxing and other general housekeeping duties.
Maintaining building security, locking doors, securing inside gates,
securing alarm, etc., and security during evening and Saturday meetings. Must be able to work independently without
close supervision. Must be able to work
well with individuals within and without the Department of Maintenance &
Custodial.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High School diploma or equivalent
preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to operate buffer/stripper. Knowledge of custodial and general cleaning
methods.
Experience
Previous custodial experience. Proven reliability, responsibility.
Experience working with cleaning chemicals.
Major Responsibilities
ESC RESPONSIBILITIES/INTERNAL
OPERATIONS
1. Actively participates in
activities designed to achieve the Region 9 Mission to improve student
performance.
2. Works as a team member demonstrating
flexibility, assisting other programs'/departments' staff members, and
lending support to other ESC staff.
3. During contacts with districts
and other agency personnel, speaks positively about the ESC and each individual
staff/member.
4. Accepts responsibility for
personal professional growth and review of current professional literature.
5. Functions within the policies and
administrative procedures of Region 9 ESC.
6. Performs duties as assigned to
ensure the effective operation of the ESC and accomplishment of the mission.
7. Ensures that the quality (neat,
accurate, & thorough) and quantity (amount of work during a given amount of
time) of work meets expectations necessary to fulfill the ESC Mission.
8. Demonstrates dependability and
drive in completing work assignments without close supervision.
9. Commits to high attendance and
exhibits punctuality.
10. Clean building, dust, clean
windows, empty trash and clean receptacles, and other general housekeeping.
11. Clean restrooms as needed.
12. Clean kitchen area, including
running the dishwasher.
13. Clean floors and periodically
wax.
14. Check meeting schedule daily and
set up meeting rooms for evening and weekend meetings if necessary.
15. Maintain security of building
during evening and Saturday meetings.
16. Provide light yard maintenance
during peak periods, pick up trash outside after meetings dismissal.
17. Be responsive to change in
assigned work throughout the year to ensure equal workload among the custodial
staff.
18. Report maintenance needs and
supply needs to immediate supervisor.

Buffer/stripper, vacuum cleaner,
mop, and broom.

Mental Demands
Must have good communication,
interpretive and reasoning skills, must not be fearful of moderate heights.
Physical Demands/Environmental
Factors
Must be able to perform occasional
lifting and carrying of heavy objects (45 lbs. or over). Ability to climb a
ladder. Ability to stand or walk for
long periods of time. The above tasks
include the ability to balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
