Description: Special Education Coordinator
Job Summary:
Attend required ETL/Coordinator biweekly meetings.
Provide leadership to TEAM members regarding dissemination of information obtained at biweekly ETL/Coordinator meetings following a train-the-trainer model.
Facilitate weekly special education staff meetings across buildings.
Collaborate with special education administration to assess district needs and program development as needed
Continually assess curriculum needs of the district and advice Assistant Superintendent of Student Services on programmatic needs.
Arrange contracted services (interpreters, vision/mobility specialist, cochlear implant consultants, etc.) and equipment for all special education students who qualify and coordinate service providers.
Attend ACT (Assisting Children and Teachers) meetings when requested as part of the pre-referral process for special education and RTI (Response to Intervention).
Assist with monitoring of IEP development and implementation, including providing input related to the effectiveness of school personnel involvement in the IEP TEAM meetings and IEP implementation.
Advice both special education and regular education teachers regarding making appropriate accommodations and modifications in curriculum and instruction when appropriate.
Attend Leadership Summit seminars throughout the school year.
Conduct and interpret diagnostic assessments resulting in comprehensive written summaries that meet criteria in accordance with state and federal special education requirements.
Provide consultation to general and special education staff, parents and outside agencies relative to special education procedures and programs.
Complete other related tasks as assigned by Assistant Director of Student Services and/or Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
Qualifications: MA DOE licensure
