COMPUTER SUPPORT ASSOCIATE
Purpose Statement
The job of Computer Support Associate was
established for the purpose/s of improving the quality of
instruction within the district by providing assistance to
teachers and students in using computers and related
resources; troubleshooting and maintaining computer
hardware and software on a school site; training and
support to teachers and staff by responding to software
questions; maintaining the computer labs/pods and
inventory; providing recommendations for activities,
equipment, and supplies that enhance the school sites'
technology program; serving as resource to staff by
providing support and guidance based on their technology
knowledge and experience; and escalating unresolved issues
to Help Desk.
This job reports to Building
Administrator
Essential Functions
·
Assists IT department in maintaining a
variety of hardware and software within building (e.g.
electronic asset inventory, intranet, student logins for
district network, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring
availability of equipment in proper working condition.
·
Assists IT department in installing software
on all building computers for the purpose of ensuring
availability for use by site staff and students.
·
Attends meetings and trainings for the purpose
of increasing skills in special area that are related to
position.
·
Identifies program needs both hardware and
software for the purpose of providing recommendations of
expenditures for activities, equipment, supplies, etc. that
will enhance the assigned program.
·
Performs initial diagnosis of technical
problems (e.g. hardware, network, wireless, software, etc.)
for the purpose of resolving problems within scope of
technical expertise or escalate through Help Desk.
·
Prepares a variety of reports and
documentation (e.g. server log sheets, troubleshooting log,
HELP Desk Tickets, checklists, etc.) for the purpose of
documenting activities, conveying information and/or ensuring
compliance with established guidelines.
·
Provides training and/or support to teachers
and staff for the purpose of orienting faculty and responding
to hardware/software questions.
·
Responds to inquiries of other school
personnel for the purpose of providing support with
information, assistance and/or direction related to the grade
level or special area activities.
·
Serves as a resource to assigned grade level
or special area staff for the purpose of providing initial
support and guidance, based on their knowledge and
experience.
·
Supports teachers, staff, students and
administrators for the purpose of assisting them with the
usage of electronic hardware and software.
·
Troubleshoots computers and other equipment
(e.g. printers, digital projectors, digital visual
presenters, electronic display boards, IP telephones, etc.)
for the purpose of providing immediate assistance to users
for problem resolution and/or referring to appropriate party
for resolution.

assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and
effective functioning of the work unit.
