GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Technology Support Person works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director/Director of Technology to provide technical support and problem-solving of the District's computer hardware, software, and networks in order to provide functioning technology to students and staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

1.       Troubleshoots and corrects computer hardware, software and configuration issues

2.       Troubleshoots and corrects printer hardware, software and configuration issues

3.       Responds to and fixes problems as reported through the district's Help Desk Program

4.       Promptly enters information about corrected problems using procedures developed by the Director of 

        Technology or Assistant Director of Technology in order to create a record of completed work

5.      Assigns and deletes user passwords as directed and maintains records of additions, deletions and changes in 

       order to maintain an accurate record of users and passwords

6.      Assigns and deletes user email accounts as directed and maintains the District's email distribution lists and 

       maintains records of additions, deletions, and changes in order to maintain an accurate record of email

       accounts and users

7.       Tracks problems until they are resolved in order to provide functioning technology to students and staff

8.       Completes periodic cleaning of computer hardware in order to maintain the functioning of the District's

        technology  equipment

9.       Collaborates with District-level technology staff to correct unresolved technical issues with the purpose of

        providing fully functioning technology to students and staff

10.    Periodically updates school technology inventories and district hardware inventories

11.    Handles confidential information discretely and professionally

12.    Works on summer technology projects including hardware refresh and roll out of new equipment

13.     Supports teachers with hardware and software use

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·          In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite troubleshooting and configuration

·          Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks

·          Ability to troubleshoot and configure multiple hardware platforms

o    iPod/iTouch

o    Mac Laptop and Desktop

o    Network Printer

·          Strong knowledge and experience working with the following operating systems

o    Windows XP

o    Windows 7

o    Mac OS

o    Android

o    Linux

·          Ability to repair or replace common hardware components on a variety of machine types (i.e. desktop, laptop,

          printer)

·          Experience working with computer image creation and distribution software such as Norton's Ghost

·          Ability to work in a team environment as well as to work independently

·          Experience with HP and Cisco switching equipment

·          Familiar with Cisco VoIP phone systems

·          Experience with onsite desktop support environment

·          Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, troubleshooting, configuration and support

·          Some experience with TCP/IP, switch and router protocol

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

·          High school diploma or equivalent

·          Technology Degree preferred or 2-3 years of experience in the field

·          College credits in technology related courses preferred or equivalent experience

·          Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

·          A+ or Network+ certification preferred or comparable work experience
