PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Serves on multi-disciplinary
teams as a resource to school staff members to assist in the
development of a balanced program for oral language development
and improvement.
2.
Provides a therapeutic
program to meet individual needs of students with speech,
language, and hearing disorders through direct and consultative
services.
3.
Assists and guides general
and special education teachers in observing, describing, and
referring students with suspected speech and language and
hearing impairments.
4.
Provides a thorough case
history, assessment and diagnosis of speech, language and
hearing impairments and assists in determining the impact of
such impairments on educational, behavioral, social-emotional,
and vocational development.
5.
Provides assistance in
determining and differentiating speech and
differences due to cultural factors (dialects,
Limited English
Proficiency, etc.) from impairments.
6.
Assists in proper referrals of
students to Early Intervention Teams and/or PPT, as appropriate
in assessing student needs.
7.
Provides appropriate
individualized programs of therapy, classroom modifications and
suggestions for accommodations to meet individual students'
needs in the least restrictive environment.
8.
Collaborates and consults
with classroom teachers and other school staff members to
implement therapy goals, by making suggestions for the
student's daily activities.
