Substitute Bus Driver(s)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Transport and supervise students safely and professionally over specified routes according to a time schedule.
• Perform and properly completed daily pre-trip inspections and reports.
• Comply with all traffic ordinances and discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
• Participate in on-site and/or off-site training.
• Perform bus cleaning and fueling duties on a daily basis.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally required to walk or stand. 
• The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. 
• The employee frequently repeats the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. 
• The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools and is continuously driving on the job. 
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds such as students.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in temperatures above 100° and below 32° and occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces.
• The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where the employee would have to raise their voice to be heard.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Valid Michigan driver's license with a positive driving record is required.
• Valid CDL endorsement on driver's license is preferred.
• The ability to manage students' behavior during transport, an excellent attendance record, be self-motivated, positive, and team-orientated with the ability to work cooperatively with staff and students is required.
• Must have the ability to read and understand maps, to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, Department of Transportation physical and MDE Basic Training Program.
