We are seeking a candidate who can make a long term commitment to South Middle School.  The successful applicant will have an understanding of best practices for 21st Century learning and be committed to the District's Vision 2020.  Expectations of applicants are to:

 

1. possess a valid Illinois certificate (Type 75) for the position of Principal;

2. have had successful teaching and administrative experience, preferably at the middle school level;

3. demonstrate a high level of effective leadership skills;

4. possess strong insight into the nature and development of the children to be served;

5. demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skill in the areas of curriculum,instruction, assessment and technology;

6. possess a genuine commitment to educational excellence and the capacity for strong and energetic leadership;

7. have a genuine concern for people and a record that clearly demonstrates patterns of strength, trust, open communication, and a high degree of empathy in all personal interactions;

8. possess the ability and predisposition to use a collaborative approach to problem-solving while still accepting the responsibility for administrative decisions;

9. have a demonstrated, well-developed insight into the educational interests of the public(s) to be served;

10. have the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and community members;

11. possess a high proficiency in the use of technology to support instruction;

12. possess high integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and the personal strength to face challenges with humor and courage;

13. possess strengths in writing, speaking, international education and global focus, differentiation, special education and gifted students; and

14. evidence of developing professional learning communities and effective leadership with adult learners.

District 25 is located in the central part of Arlington Heights, Illinois, covering an area of approximately 10 square miles. The District also includes a small portion of neighboring Mount Prospect and Rolling Meadows. District 25 has seven elementary (K-5) schools and two middle(6-8)schools.
