Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, Connecticut, is an independent Catholic School for 770 girls in grades PS-12. We are currently seeking an Upper School Learning Specialist for the 2012-2013 school year.

Job Summary
The
Upper School Learning Specialist is responsible for meeting the needs of
individual students through academic support and to educate the faculty
regarding the needs of individual students. This position coordinates with the
Head of the Upper School, the Upper School Academic Deans, Faculty and Parents.
Essential Functions
·
Provide
support to girls for whom the diagnosis of a learning difference has been
shared with the school.
·
Interpret
educational evaluations and make appropriate recommendations, and develop an
educational plan.
·
Serve
as SSD Coordinator for the ACT and College Board, process applications for
accommodations and supervise on-site testing.
·
Attend
Upper School team meetings and help create and ensure academic action plans are
executed.
·
Work with the faculty to design and implement
lesson plans to meet the needs of students and their learning styles.
Additional Key Tasks:
·
Observe
the learning needs of all students in grades 9 - 12 and make appropriate
recommendations to parents and teachers.
·
Maintain
contact with parents, teachers, outside tutors or other support personnel to
implement recommended learning accommodations and coordinate services.
·
Keep
teachers thoroughly informed of the student’s specific learning needs and how
they can be managed within the regular classroom.
·
Conduct
meetings with and prepare written summaries of the educational evaluations for
each teacher emphasizing the specific accommodations that can be implemented
into the regular classroom setting.
·
Help content area teachers integrate study
skills into their curricula.
·
Keep
and update files for girls for whom the diagnosis of a learning difference has
been shared with the school.
·
Create
and update extended time list and ensure that individual testing is up to date
each year.
·
Assist
in reviewing and analyzing standardized testing.
·
Serve
on the Upper School Admission committee.
Qualifications
The
ideal candidate will have a minimum of three-five years experience, a Masters
degree in Special Education or related field, and experience working with
upper-school aged students is preferred.
