Salary:   At the appropriate step on the Paraprofessional pay schedule

 

Work Schedule:    Monday thru Friday

                            3 hours a day

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

a.      High School graduate, or equivalent

 

or prefer

 

b.      Advanced training a community college or degree-granting institution whose special education instructional aide training program has been approved by the department.

 

1.       Ability to supervise students in a classroom and at lunchtime/recess, to monitor behaviors, and implement behavior plans as directed by the professional staff.

2.      Willingness and ability to implement both individual and classroom behavior plans

3.   Willingness to be trained in and implement Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) techniques including physical management in emergency situations

4.      Good health, stamina for assigned duties, and positive attitude toward students.  Willingness and ability to work with students with aggressive and/or anti-social behaviors.

5.   Complete and pass a fitness for duty physical

6.      Demonstrate basic computer literacy and operational knowledge of instructional support equipment (video, laminator, copying, projectors)

7.      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.      Supervise students in a general education classroom lunchroom, at recess, and throughout school building as necessary to monitor behaviors, implement behavior plans, and assist professional staff.

2.      Provide instructional assistance under the supervision of the classroom teacher and ancillary staff

3.      Assist in extensive data collection related to behavioral analysis, and instructional progress as directed by professional staff

4.      Participate in training programs, student staffing, program committees and other meetings as appropriate

5.      Care for instructional materials when appropriate

6.      Enter data and prepare reports on computer as designated by teachers and ancillary staff

7.      Other duties as assigned
