197 Day Contract - Ten
extra days for required summer training

plus $5000.00 salary augmentation for extra days and work

Specific Qualifications
Required:
Ø
Bachelor's degree required with
Texas
Teaching Certification, Master's degree preferred, but not
required.
Ø
At least two years of successful teaching as measured by
performance evaluations and portfolio of work with students
Position
Expectations:
Ø
Portfolio and a classroom demonstration showing
instructional excellence
Ø
Student data that illustrates the teacher's ability to
increase student achievement through utilizing specific
instructional strategies;
Ø
Excellent communication skills along with an understanding
of how to facilitate growth in adults; and
Ø
Classroom demonstrations and external observations.
Leadership Team
Participation
The mentor teacher plays an essential role in TAP.
In addition, to helping create the
academic achievement plan for the school, their role involves
serving as a liaison between the master and career teachers to
ensure all teachers are receiving the support necessary to
improve their instruction and increase student
achievement.
Ø
Some of the responsibilities a mentor teacher will have as a
member of the TAP Leadership team are to:
o
Analyze student data to identify student
learning goals
o
Monitor goal setting, activities, classroom
follow-up and goal attainment for cluster groups;
o
Assess teacher evaluation results; and
o
Maintain inter-rater reliability
Cluster Group Planning
(staff development) and Implementation
The mentor teacher participates in cluster group and provides
support to his/her career teachers following cluster meeting such
as model teaching and demonstration lessons.
Supports Teachers'
Individual Growth Plans
The mentor teacher guides and collaborates with a group of
assigned career teachers providing them with instructional
support through classroom observations and feedback to ensure
that the progression of teacher skill development is aligned with
changing student learning needs. The mentor teacher provides
support and serves as a resource assisting career teachers with
instruction, classroom management, and lesson planning.
Evaluations/Conferencing
The mentor teacher conducts classroom evaluations including
leading a pre & post conference for each evaluation.
