JOB SUMMARY:
The Tutor provides one to one or
small group tutoring to students.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.* Responsible for the
identification of Title I students.
2.*
Responsible for the
administration of a pre-test (or use existing and current
data) to each Title I student and record data on proper
form.
3.*
Responsible for using test
results to design appropriate educational programs for each
student, to include instruction in basic and advanced
skills.
4.*
Responsible for the scheduling
of tutoring sessions in consultation with instruction and/or
school staff so that staff and students are assured
consistent and coordinated tutoring.
5.*
Responsible for the
communicating with regular/special education staff to ensure
coordination of Title I program with regular/special
education program.
6.*
Responsible for approaching
students with a positive attitude with the expectation that
students will learn and grow.
7.*
Responsible for making lesson
adjustments as needed to help students experience
success.
8.*
Responsible for appropriate
documentation, such as keeping a record of dates, length and
content of each tutoring session.
9.*
Responsible for documenting in
a log of how his/her time is spent while on the job.
10.*
Responsible for documenting parent contact and
regular/special education communication.
11.*
Responsible for attending staff meetings and in-services as
appropriate.
12.*
Responsible for assisting the students with homework to
improve performance, focus on stimulation an improved
attitude towards academics.
13.*
Responsible for participating in the center's team meeting in
order to assess individual and group needs.

PREPARATION, TRAINING,
EXPERIENCES AND EDUCATION:
1.
Must have A)
completed at least two years of study at an institution of
higher education (at least 60 credits); B) obtained an
associate's or higher degree; or C) achieved a passing score
on a MDE approved assessment. Must provide an official
transcript or a Work Keys certificate before final
recommendation.
2.
Prefer previous
experience working with at-risk students.
3.
Excellent
communication skills (verbal and written).
4.
Demonstrated
ability to respect the confidential of student
information.
5.
Demonstrated good
attendance and punctuality.
6.
Demonstrated
ability to deal with students, parents and the public in a
tactful and courteous manner.
7.
Experience working
with computers required
8.
Some positions may
require strong technology experience (SMART Board, Document
Camera, Read Naturally software, LCD projector), as well as a
passion and interest in working with students who are
struggling with reading and math, primarily in grades
3-8.
