SUMMARY:
As the administrative and academic leader of this Middle College High School, the Great Path Academy principal will serve as member of the Manchester Community College President’s Advisory senior leadership team. The principal will create and execute a vision of an outstanding Middle College High School, provide oversight of the school’s educational program and personnel, aligned with the design principles of the middle college high school model. The principal will develop and support a collaborative management structure with Manchester Community College (MCC) that facilitates active and regular participation of all stakeholders. The principal will ensure that Great Path Academy fulfills its mission of providing students with personalized and innovative learning in a college environment on the campus of Manchester Community College. This includes developing a school that supports students from diverse backgrounds in developing the goals, values, self-discipline, work habits, academic and life skills needed to achieve success.
The Great Path Academy principal will be responsible for working in partnership with Manchester Community College to monitor and maintain the Middle College High School Model by facilitating the interface between high school and college students, faculty, and administrators. The principal will be responsible for sustaining and increasing college experiences during high school that promote post-secondary college enrollment and completion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
o Minimum of three (3) years successful school administration at the secondary level preferably in a middle college model high school, magnet school, or other innovative school environment.
o Demonstrated knowledge of the academic expectations and the teaching requirements of both secondary and collegiate education.

o Strong and collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent, and inclusive style that supports high student outcomes and educational excellence
o Demonstrated knowledge and effective use of instructional, management, and communication technologies
o Knowledge of and commitment to the Middle College High School Model
o Commitment to working in partnership with Manchester Community College to maximize integration between secondary and college level education
o Unyielding commitment to ongoing student, staff, and self learning and development
o Demonstrated record of success as an instructional leader
o Knowledge of pedagogy for development of curriculum and assessment that support student learning
o Knowledge of the particular challenges of providing leadership in a magnet school environment
o Demonstrated effective use of data and researched-based practices for increasing student achievement
o Skilled in staff recruitment, development, supervision and evaluation
o An outstanding and visible communicator who welcomes interaction with all members of the school and college community and community at large, and inspires excellence in others
o Knowledge of financial management
o Passion and commitment for the achievement of each student
o Extremely high expectations for student behavior
o Commitment to partnerships with various constituents
o Familiarity with community colleges in general and MCC in particular
o Preference for doctorate and/or experience at the middle college high school/community college level
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Connecticut Certification in Intermediate Administration/Supervision (092)
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary in accordance with Hartford Principals’ and Supervisors’ Association Group 4-6 ($119,132 – $140,099). 2012-2013 Twelve-month position.
